Maize USD 266 is seeking a dynamic and effective communicator with a broad range of skills and strengths, specifically website management, social media, writing, graphic design, and photography. This position supports the Executive Director of Communications and requires a Bachelor’s degree. 2+ years of experience in communications/marketing preferred.

Essential Functions

  1. Manage district website migration, development, and content strategy.
  2. Develop and implement a district social media strategy.
  3. Support and train building-level communications secretaries so they can effectively communicate via various platforms.
  4. Coordinate employee awards and recognition programming, including related events.
  5. Create content through graphic design, photography, videography, and writing.
  6. As necessary, attend and cover special events that may occur outside of the regular work day.
  7. Provide support when needed related to time-sensitive communications.
  8. Support the Executive Director of Communications and other district leaders with internal and external strategic communications.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of Maize USD 266.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Computer skills, including knowledge of Adobe products (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator); Canva; Microsoft Office products and web-based software programs, including content management systems for web page design, and the automated calling platform.
  2. Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills on the phone and in person.
  3. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  4. Ability to use video and camera equipment.
  5. Ability to edit photos and edit and produce videos.
  6. Ability to develop and facilitate in-person training sessions and training resources.
  7. Strong writing skills and ability to clearly articulate thoughts in writing and verbally.

Education, Certification

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or similar field.

 

Experience

2+ years relevant professional experience preferred

 

Physical Demands, Working Environment

Able to lift heavy objects.
85% sitting, 5% walking, 5% standing, 5% lifting/carrying.
The job is performed under minimal temperature variations.
Job may include some travel.
