Maize High School is adding a Student Support Services Liaison for the 2025-26 school year. This person will advocate and coordinate services for at-risk students in order to close the achievement gap. This is accomplished through building capacity in educators and continually ensuring the level of services provided to students is appropriate.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Current Kansas teaching license or related service provider experience, Building Administrator license preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, advanced understanding of special education law, strong decision making skills, problem solving, significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality, collaboration
Experience: Special education or related special services experience preferred, school leadership experience preferred, 3 years of teaching/special education services experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist building administrators in reviewing student performance data and recommend action steps.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary team in order to study and address student needs.
- Facilitate a smooth transition between student placements when needed.
- Provide guidance and support during the IEP process from drafting to implementation.
- Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at IEP meetings.
- Assist all staff in implementing positive behavior strategies and tiered support regarding behavior.
- Model behavior interventions for educators and support staff.
- Assist in developing and delivering professional learning opportunities for educators and support staff.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching conversations for continued development.
- Understand and ensure compliance with laws related to serving students especially in the areas of disability accommodations and special education.
- Support standards of student conduct and respond to students in crisis.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the school and district.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and phone, two-way radio, personal or district provided vehicle
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing
Motion: Repetitive hand motion, some walking, occasional reaching, carrying, stooping, and kneeling
Lifting: Some heavy lifting, must be able to restrain students
Environment: Primarily indoors with some outdoor activities, may be noisy, must navigate between different buildings
Mental Demands: Maintain focus, decision-making, remain composed under pressure
Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations.
Clearances: Background check, drug screen, TB test, driving record
This position is covered by the Negotiated Agreement and may include an additional 8 days. |
