Join our coaching staff!  Maize High is seeking a part-time Head Coach for Trap Shooting.  

 

To instruct students in the fundamental skills, strategy and training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.  At the same time, the student shall receive instructions that will lead to the formation of pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.  



Essential Functions

  1. Supervise students during scheduled practices
  2. Stay informed on new techniques or concepts as it pertains to the assigned area of responsibility
  3. Inventory and maintain equipment and uniforms
  4. Anticipate any immediate and long-range needs for the program and submit requests for purchases accordingly.
  5. Be responsible for coaching and modeling good sportsmanship and citizenship as defined by KSHSAA.
  6. Provide a safe, educational, competitive environment for both practices and performances.
  7. Communicate effectively with the school office, media and parents
  8. Mentor and evaluate the assistants as necessary
  9. Accept the leadership responsibilities demanded of the position of head coach
  10. Maintain the physical well being of the students in all areas pertaining to the designated area of responsibility
  11. Request transportation, lodging and stipend.
  12. Develop and implement practice plans that are designed to improve individual and team performance while adhering to safety guidelines
  13. Motivate student-athletes to reach their full potential by instilling a positive attitude and setting high expectations
  14. Teach student-athletes the importance of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and dedication to academics
  15. Evaluate student-athletes’ strengths and weaknesses and make strategic decisions regarding game strategy and player positioning
  16. Attend all scheduled practices and games, arriving on time and prepared with the necessary equipment and resources
  17. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to keep them updated on their child’s progress and address any concerns
  18. Maintain accurate records of student-athlete eligibility and submit required paperwork in a timely manner
  19. Stay up-to-date on developments in your sport, attending coaching clinics and workshops when possible
  20. Manage assistant coaches and other support staff, delegating tasks and responsibilities as needed
  21. Serve as a liaison between the school administration and the athletic department
  22. Complete all training required by KSDE and the district
  23. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or school principal



Minimum Job Requirements 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  1. Knowledge of the fundamentals of the sport/activity
  2. Knowledge of KSHSAA rules and regulations
  3. Knowledge of USD 266 policies and expectations
  4. Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
  5. Ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines 
  6. Knowledge of age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; methods of instruction and training; basic disabilities; and behavioral management strategies 
  7. Ability to gather, collate, and/or classify data
  8. Ability to communicate with tact and patience
  9. Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals  
  10. Ability to solve problems and analyze issues and create action plans 
  11. Ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships
  12. Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and to remain flexible and creative
  13. Ability to work under limited supervision

Must past background check and TB test.
