Description

Primary Purpose: 

To relieve classroom teachers of non-instructional tasks necessary for the successful functioning of the class or program.  

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: High School diploma (or equivalent) required. 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:  None required but preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assists with special projects as requested by the classroom teacher and/or supervisor for the purpose of running an efficient school building. 
  • Attends a variety of meetings (e.g. staff meetings, in-services, workshops, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Maintains instructional materials, files, and records and ensures the availability of items, providing written references, and recording progress towards goals and objectives.
  • Models desired behaviors (e.g. conversation, manners, cleaning activities, listening, everyday interactions, etc.) for students in multiple settings.
  • Shops for grocery consumables for use in classrooms and stores as needed
  • Picks up orders of grocery consumables for use in classroom and stores as needed
  • Takes inventory of pantry
  • Completes reimbursements as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and phone, personal or  district provided vehicle

Posture: Prolonged standing.  Frequent walking, pushing/pulling, occasional kneeling/squatting,  occasional bending/stooping

Motion: Frequent keyboarding and use of mouse, occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional heavy lifting and carrying (must be able to lift up to 40 pounds)

Environment: Primarily indoors; some outdoor student supervision

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress,  solve problems, make decisions and be flexible

 

Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations.

 

Clearances: Background check, current TB test, and valid Driver’s license
