Our Assistant Kitchen Managers assist in providing healthy, sanitary, nutritious, and appealing food for the students and staff.
A Day in the Life
- Prepare healthy, sanitary, appealing food that meets the nutritional needs of students and staff.
- Utilizes sound sanitation standards to meet all district, state, and federal mandates.
- Assists in serving food so that staff and students receive the food in a timely and friendly manner.
- Assists in tasks necessary for efficient functioning of the food service program (e.g. washing dishes, scanning tickets, keeping the kitchen cleaned and organized, etc).
- Assists in keeping track of daily inventory, re-stocking supplies, and notifying manager so that the food service program has the necessary resources to function efficiently.
- Monitors the temperature of the food, dishwasher, etc. ensuring HACCP Compliance.
- Assists other kitchen staff with any task that needs to be completed in order to meet deadlines.
- Maintains confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws.
- Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the food service program.
Profile of a Successful Candidate
- Substitutes for the other tasks when a kitchen assistant is absent.
- Performs deep cleaning/defrosting tasks in order to maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen.
- Is a Team Worker
- Has Basic computer skills
- Is able to work at a fast pace
- Has knowledge of basic math skills
- Is knowledgeable of state health regulations
- Kitchen experience recommended
Education, Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Safety Basics-State Department of Education
Physical Demands, Working Environment
- Generally 80% standing and 20% walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Fine finger dexterity used.
- The work environment varies from extremely hot to extremely cold (freezer).
- The job is performed under some hazardous conditions.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

Attendance Requirements
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations.
- Must be regularly available and willing to work hours determined necessary by the district.
